Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2026–2027 School Year at Scott Avenue School!
 
My name is Ms. White, and I am honored and excited to serve as the principal of Scott Avenue Elementary School. I look forward to partnering with our students, staff, and families as we build strong relationships, celebrate our school community, and create an incredible year for every Scottie.
 
Our school-wide theme this year is “RISE UP—Together we BARK, together we rise!” At Scott Avenue, we RISE UP together by creating a community rooted in pride, care, and a shared commitment to helping every Scottie learn, grow, and succeed. We rise higher when we work collectively to create the support, encouragement, and opportunities every student needs to reach their full potential. This theme reminds us that when we come together as one pack with one purpose, we can ensure every student feels seen, valued, supported, and inspired to do their best each day.
 
Throughout the year, we will continue reinforcing our Scott Avenue BARK expectations: Be a Friend, Act Responsibly, Respect All, and Keep Safe. These shared expectations, along with our monthly character traits, will help our students develop the kindness, responsibility, confidence, and perseverance they need to thrive both in school and in their community. Together, we will maintain the supportive, rigorous, innovative, and positive learning environment that makes Scott Avenue such a special place.
 
In preparation for our return to school, please stay informed by visiting the East Whittier City School District website, especially the Family Resources section, on a regular basis. This site provides important updates, tools, and supports for families throughout the year. In addition, please be sure to read all Aeries ParentSquare messages, as this is the primary way we will communicate the most current information, reminders, and any changes as soon as they arise.

2025-2026 Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment for TK and Kindergarten will begin on January 27th. Intradistrict permit requests will also be taken beginning January 27th -February 7th. Interdistrict permits will be taken from March 3-14. Please visit our enrollment hub online for complete details. Please note all deadlines will be strictly adhered to throughout the process. Also, as a reminder, only new students need to apply for permits. If your student has been approved for a permit and is within K-4th grade or 6th- 7th grade, you do not need to re-apply. However, 5th grade students who are on a permit and wish to attend a school other than their school of residence for 6th grade DO NEED to re-apply for a permit.

Our daily schedule is available in the Family Resource section. Tuesdays are early release days for students, as are one Thursday a month.
